Why Your Brand Should be on Reddit

Reddit doesn’t usually fall into the list of “social media platforms” marketers and social managers account for when creating their strategies and doing their community management… but should it?!

Based on Reddit’s Q3 report, their daily activity usage increased to 97.2 million. They also noted that the word “Reddit” was the 6th most Googled word in the US this year, indicating that people are turning to this platform for more than just entertainment. Say you’re downtown for the weekend and you search up “best spaghetti toronto reddit” - why that specific wording instead of looking for reviews on social media? Because as much as we love paid influencer campaigns, there are a lot of people out there who wanted the unfiltered, human, crowdsourced review with the peace of mind that they’re not hearing it from someone who’s been gifted or paid to say they love a certain joint. The idea of community coming together to share very real thoughts - largely thanks to the anonymity factor where you can say whatever you want - is a more comforting experience than Google pulling up top searched results based on SEO.

Speaking from experience, we’ve monitored Reddit for a brand before - and saw so much value in it. Reddit is where people go to spark conversations, from looking for real opinions on products, to finding a community they can complain about a brand to. For example: you are a bedding brand scrolling through Reddit threads where people are discussing your quality vs a competitor. What do you do? Hop into the thread and offer a discount, or a piece of advice as an employee of the brand. The outcome? 9/10 times positive.

Having a social media manager keep an eye on the conversations happening within this space gives you the upper hand to insert your brand into the conversation and provide advice, insight or reassurance (so long as you are organic and authentic as possible!).

Would you include Reddit in your 2025 strategy? 💻
